Where is 4b09?

In Map 1, 4B06 is the unmarked area west of 4B04 and south of 4B05 around Peabody Street.

4B09 is east of 4B08.

What is that north dividing line of 4C02?

Candace, 4A06 is in between 4A05 and 4A07 in this map, there just wasn't enough room for labels

What is the south dividing line street of 4E04?

Will the revised map be sent out to Commissioners so we can develop resolutions and alert our constituents?!

Hi Kyd, yes for map 2, Crestwood Dr NW is part of the main 4E01 Crestwood SMD

yes, crestwood is 4E01 in both maps, at a population of 2132 in both.

And the Crestwood Apartments in both maps is now in 4C?

no -- in both maps, the crestwood apartments are in 4E still

In Map 2 Crestwood Apartments are in with Sixteenth Street Heights, i.e. almost non-contiguous?

So my SMD is singularly swallowed up by 4D?

Tracy, I don't think I understand your question. In both map 1 and 2, Crestwood Apartments are in 4E still, just there are a few different configurations with what 4E02 looks like.

In both maps, the area where 4B06 is now looks very different.

Yes, I am wondering why Crestwood Apartments is not in with Crestwood, as there is much more in common between Crestwood Apartments and Crestwood, rather than Crestwood Apartments and Sixteenth Street Heights

The addition of the Crestwood Apartments would be the Crestwood 4E01 at around 2500-2600 residents, which is way over the 2000 goal for each SMD.

You're suggesting removing ANC 4B06 into 4D...that's a significant change!

@Cesse, yes, the proposal has been to have 2 Crestwood SMDs, with the northern one stretching over to east of 16th Street

Last week and throughout the process, we heard from several people that they would prefer Kennedy Street stay in the same SMD, meaning it would join 4D. This is represented in Map 1.In Map 2, the 100 and 200 block of Kenney Street remains in 4B.

I agree! They have two different demographics and businesses. 4B is working on a resolution opposing this. We should remain in 4b06 and 4b08 respectively.

This process has no legal bearing on school boundaries.

I would ask that if you are going to recirculate a new Map 1 and a new Map 2, that one of these keep Crestwood Apartments in together with Crestwood, rather that separating the Apartments and putting them in with Sixteenth Street Heights. Crestwood needs to keep these contiguous apartments in their SMD, even if it creates two Crestwood SMDs

There actually is an interplay between ANC boundaries and in-district school boundaries with regard to the new border between 4B and 4D. Truesdell Elementary will be undergoing a modernization over the next three years and we’re currently facing serious issues regarding DCPS’ proposal for their proposed swing space location for Truesdell, which may displace most of the 450-student population. It would be far more helpful to incorporate all of Truesdell’s in-district boundaries within the new ANC 4D (by extending 4D’s new border north to Georgia Ave. & Missouri Ave. NW) rather than continuing to split this school community between 4B and 4D.

While DCPS in-district boundaries don’t HAVE to be correlated with the new ANC boundaries, in this instance, they should

The ballot is Option 1 - ANC 4B and 4D have a border as in Map 2.

Or Option 2 - ANC 4B and 4D have a border along Missouri.

ANC 4D passed a resolution on Feb. 16 asking the Task Force NOT to break up Brightwood Park!

The entirety of Sherman Circle Park has ALWAYS been within ANC 4D (since 1976) and we’d like to keep it that way over the next decade!

Vince, could I ask which map you prefer re: 4E/4C boundaries?

@Jenn - I prefer map 1 for SE quadrant as it keeps more of GA ave in 4C and uses Arkansas as a dividing line

Vince, my point was that Crestwood seems to have excised Crestwood Apartments from their SMD in order to remain "Crestwood pristine". For us on the east side of 16th Street, it just seems a bit socio-economically inequitable of Crestwood, for lack of a better word, that they want to kick out the Crestwood Apartments in order to have 1 SMD. Especially when if Crestwood had 2 SMDs, they would have 1/3 of the SMDs in 4E.

When the final proposed maps are released next week, can the Task Force make sure that the maps are extremely clear to see, especially for the new SMD lines? Would be very helpful

@Tracy, You have an excellent point and I personally prefer mixed SMDs that have single family residences and community living facilities such as apartments. Drawing these lines are so much more difficult that I could have imagined.
